The top 30 chefs in India were recognized by Culinary Culture in Goa through the presentation of awards during the second edition of Food Superstars.
We Indians are known for our love of food, and Indian cuisine is also loved and celebrated worldwide. So let’s not forget our amazing Indian chefs behind creating those mouth-watering dishes. They deserve some recognition too.
Culinary Culture, India’s premier culinary platform, partnered with Campo Viejo to honor these culinary geniuses during its second annual Chef Rankings event, Food Superstars 2023 in Goa on September 21.The impressive award ceremony, attended by top names in the food and beverage industry, stands as the first and only awards ranking for chefs of India, bringing together the country’s culinary experts on a single prestigious platform. It aims to honour and reward India’s most skilled chefs, irrespective of their restaurant affiliations.
Founded by Vir Sanghvi, a well-known figure in the food industry and Sameer Sain, Culinary Culture has turned out to be an esteemed culinary authority in India, with a mission to showcase the country’s gastronomic culture to the world. It has become a dominant player in the food industry.
This season of Food Superstars recognized 30 accomplished chefs who travelled from different parts of the country and earned the title of heroes in the Indian food industry. They received a special trophy as a symbol of honor, along with beautiful scarves designed by Anita Dongre exclusively for this occasion. The iconic designer was present at the ceremony and expressed her pride in supporting Food Superstars, stating that food and fashion are intertwined cultures.
The number one spot on the list went to Regi Mathew for bringing Kerala’s cuisine to the national spotlight. Food Superstars also presented chefs for their outstanding contributions with Campo Viejo special awards that included the Young Chef and Food Legend awards, among many others.
Culinary Culture’s Food Superstars awards is unique as it asserts financial independence, ensuring freedom from external influences. Vir Sanghvi, co-founder and chairman of Culinary Culture mentioned, “This is a point worth making, that no one person has compiled this list. It’s come from our Food Hunters, our jury, and until the last moment, no one knew the names of the winners. We maintained absolute secrecy. It’s unbiased and as fair as possible. No list is perfect but this list is as close as it’s likely to be”.
The pioneering platform of Culinary Culture plays a crucial role in the celebration of culinary excellence in India. Culinary art in India is a unique blend of rich heritage, diversity, and curiosity that define the country’s character. This award recognizes the chefs themselves, rather than the restaurants they work in, emphasizing the importance of the craft over the restaurant brand and promoting the profession of a chef which is quite underrated. The initiative taken by Culinary Culture to honor and reshape the culture of the country is truly commendable.
