CLAT 2025 Counselling Postponed: The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has announced plans to approach the Supreme Court to seek relief from the Delhi High Court’s directive to revise the CLAT 2025 merit list. In light of ongoing legal proceedings, the Consortium has informed candidates that the CLAT 2025 counselling process will be delayed. A revised schedule will be released following the resolution of the appeal in the Supreme Court.
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025, conducted on December 1 for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) admissions, saw its final answer key published on December 7. Subsequently, several aspirants raised objections to the CLAT PG final answer key, pointing out alleged errors. They also criticized the “unreasonable” fee of Rs 1,000 per question for submitting objections.
Responding to a writ petition, the Delhi High Court directed the Consortium to revise the merit list published on December 7 on its official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in. On December 20, a single-judge bench ruled that answers to two questions in the entrance test were incorrect and instructed the Consortium to update the merit list accordingly. Following this, the Delhi High Court’s division bench declined to overturn the single bench’s order.
In an official notice, the Consortium stated, “We are approaching the Supreme Court for appropriate relief against this order at the earliest available date due to the ongoing court vacation.” According to the original schedule, the first merit list for admissions was set to be released on December 26, 2024. However, due to the legal hurdles, the list’s release and the subsequent counselling process have been postponed. The notice further noted that a revised timeline would be issued after the appeal process in the Supreme Court concludes.
