Dr. Ravindran Kumeran

Ravindran Kumeran, senior consultant gastrointestinal surgeon at Apollo First Med Hospital, Chennai, was recently honoured with the prestigious Global Medical Excellence Award in Bariatric Surgery.
The award ceremony took place at the House of Commons, British Parliament, London. The World Tamil Organization (UK), which celebrates the accomplishments of the global Tamil community, presented the award on December 6, 2024. Dr. Kumeran was recognised for his outstanding contribution to bariatric surgery, a procedure that helps people with obesity lose weight.
The award was presented by Rt. Hon. Dr. Simon Opher, Member of Parliament, with Rt. Hon. Nia Griffith, Patron and Shadow Secretary of State for Defence, and Lord Donald Anderson, Patron, also in attendance. In his acceptance speech, Dr. Kumeran dedicated the award to everyone who has supported him throughout his career. He expressed his gratitude and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing his work in bariatric surgery, striving for excellence and innovation in the field.
