MUMBAI: A major accident was narrowly avoided late Friday night when a car driven by a food inspector skidded and overturned inside the coastal road tunnel.According to police, the driver, identified as Vikas Sonawane, was travelling from Haji Ali towards Marine Drive when he noticed water accumulated on the road. On applying brakes, the vehicle lost traction, skidded, and flipped over.Fortunately, Sonawane was wearing a seatbelt and sustained only minor injuries. Quick response from traffic police helped overturn the car, and Sonawane was able to drive it away after assessment.The incident caused momentary disruption but no damage to public property. Police confirmed that no FIR has been registered.Authorities are now reviewing drainage and road safety measures on the coastal road following the mishap, which raised concerns over waterlogging in the newly opened stretch.
