Biden, in his State of the Union address, expressed his aspiration to see through his new economic plans to rebuild America. However, it is not going to be an easy task. America was built on slavery, the roots of which can still be seen today.
Biden took to his Twitter handle and shared his thoughts. This is what he mentioned:
“My economic plan is a blue-collar blueprint to rebuild America. It’s for you.”
The President visited the Laborers’ International Union of North America in Deforest, Wisconsin; where he expressed how his “blue-collar blueprint” would assist America rebuild itself.
Biden said, “These are good jobs. Jobs you can raise a family on, and most don’t require a college degree. Jobs where people don’t have to leave home in search of an opportunity,” the president continued. “But they do require at least four years of training apprenticeships, which is one of the reasons the United States has the best trade workers in the world.”
An article published on Washington Examiner mentions:
Biden also rehashed a contentious moment from Tuesday night’s speech, where he and Republican lawmakers exchanged barbs over alleged proposals to gut entitlement programs. He specifically accused Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) of supporting changing Social Security and Medicare to yearly re-authorization schedules.
“I will not allow anyone to cut them,” Biden closed, vowing to protect Social Security and Medicare. “Not today, not tomorrow, not ever, Period.”
Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel suggested that Biden’s economic messaging “is out of touch with American families who are struggling to keep up with Biden’s failed economy.”
Addressing the state of the Union Tuesday, Biden said, “We’re often told that Democrats and Republicans can’t work together, but over these past two years, we proved the cynics and the naysayers wrong. Yes, we’ve disagreed plenty. And yes, there were times when Democrats had to go it alone. But time and again, Democrats and Republicans came together.”
An article published on The Spokesman Review mentions:
“But midway through the address, Biden’s tone changed.
When he accused Republicans of wanting to “take the economy hostage” unless Democrats meet their demands to raise the nation’s debt ceiling, the president cited a proposal from Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., to “sunset” Social Security and Medicare so that Congress would need to reauthorize the popular programs every five years.”
