About the Competition

The Centre for Research in International Law is organizing the 2nd NLIU-CRIL Article Writing Competition (“Competition”), an initiative aimed at promoting academic excellence and research on pressing global issues in international law. The competition seeks to provide a platform for students to engage with contemporary challenges and innovations in the field of international law.. By fostering critical thinking and intellectual dialogue, this event will contribute significantly to academic excellence in the field of international law.

About NLIU

The National Law Institute University is a premier law school, and a centre for research located in Bhopal, India. Established in 1997 by the State of Madhya Pradesh, it is one of the first three law schools to have been established under the National Law University system. Since its inception, NLIU has earned a reputation as a premier institution providing quality legal education and engaging in research in cutting-edge areas of law.

About the Centre for Research in International Law

The Centre for Research in International Law is a student-run body at the National Law Institute University, which was established with an aim to increase awareness of international law and policy among students. It seeks to ensure an active and inclusive atmosphere, in collaboration with various esteemed organizations wherein an interface between like-minded students and the extensive area of international law is created. Since its inception, CRIL has, in its endeavours to promote International law, organised several lectures, panel discussions and conferences. The Centre has had the opportunity of providing a platform to debate and discuss prevalent international issues with eminent personalities.

  4. International Humanitarian Law

  6. Law of the Sea
  7. International Law and Cyberspace
  8. International Criminal Law
  9.     Air and Space Law

Note: Authors are free to write on any aspect of these themes or on interplay of different themes. They must select a specific aspect of the broader theme(s) selected, to focus on for a more in-depth analysis.

Eligibility 

The Competition is open to students currently pursuing undergraduate degree or postgraduate degree in law (3 Year LL.B./5 Year LL.B./LLM/Ph.D.) are eligible to participate. The competition will be open to both individual participants and teams of two, with no restrictions on institutional affiliation for team members.

March 31, 2026 Deadline for Submission of Manuscript
April 1, 2026 Acknowledgement of Submission of Manuscript
April 20, 2026 Declaration of Results
