New Delhi: A man was allegedly murdered and his brother and friend were injured after being stabbed in Govindpuri in southeast Delhi on Saturday. The accused and the victims were tenants in the same building, sharing a common toilet, and a dispute over not flushing it led to the violent altercation, said police.
Police have detained a man, his wife and three children, including a minor, in the case. The 19-year-old deceased lived with his family and was an e-rickshaw driver. His 22-year-old brother and 20-year-old friend who came to meet him were taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre. The main accused works at a building material shop in Govindpuri.
Police received a PCR call at 12.07am about the quarrel and got to know around 3am that one of the injured had died, while his brother was unfit to give a statement and the friend was discharged.
Both parties were tenants on the first floor of the building. The argument began when a minor used the toilet and forgot to flush it.
The victim, who later died, was stabbed on the chest, face and scalp with a kitchen knife.
Another tenant of the building said he saw three men crying, with blood oozing out of their wounds, and one of them was pleading for help. The tenant immediately went downstairs and called the landlord. “Blood was everywhere on their bodies,” he said. “They were taken to hospital. The victims lived in the building for a long time while the accused recently shifted here,” he added.
A murder case was registered at the Govindpuri police station and a crime team collected evidence from the spot.
