Surat: Varachha police arrested two quacks who have been practicing medicine as ‘sexologists’ in the Varachha area for the last five years. The two are brothers, originally from West Bengal. They would allegedly prescribe various modern medicines to ‘cure patients’. Police seized a large stash of medicines from their clinic and started legal proceedings against them.
Varachha police inspector R B Gojiya told TOI: “We raided two clinics in Surbhi Complex and Kharwa Chawl, from where we arrested three persons — two quacks and one compounder. The quacks, Jugal Bishwas and Milan Bishwas, would prefix Dr to their names and treat patients for conditions such as hydrocele, piles and sexual issues. We seized a large haul of modern medicines and ayurvedic remedies. The quacks are brothers and studied up to Class 12 in West Bengal. They would charge patients between Rs 100 and Rs 1,000.”
The quacks allegedly claimed to treat certain conditions without surgery. Police also found some certificates related to the medical field which are being investigated. Both brothers would claim they were treating patients with ayurvedic and herbal remedies but used modern medicines.
