Book Titled Reimagining Family Law in the 21st Century

About the Book

This book seeks to examine the evolving contours of Family Law in contemporary India, focusing on the legal, social, and constitutional dimensions of family relationships. This edited volume offers a rigorous and contemporary engagement with Family Law as a dynamic site of legal reform, social negotiation, and constitutional transformation.

Moving beyond a purely doctrinal account, the book situates family law within broader questions of power, gender justice, access to remedies, dispute resolution mechanisms, and the lived realities of litigants. It addresses core domains such as marriage, divorce, maintenance, custody and guardianship, succession, domestic violence, reproductive autonomy, and the increasing relevance of mediation and alternative dispute resolution in family courts.

The editors seek scholarly contributions that critically analyse legislative frameworks and judicial interpretations while foregrounding the interplay between individual rights, community norms, and constitutional morality. By incorporating comparative, theoretical, and empirical perspectives, this edited book aims to deepen scholarly conversations and contribute meaningfully to policy and reform debates.
