MUMBAI: Worli Police registered an FIR on Saturday after receiving a WhatsApp message on the traffic police’s helpline threatening a bomb blast in two Indian cities and a plot targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The message, reportedly sent early on Saturday, warned of a planned attack involving two alleged agents of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Officials said the threat originated from a phone number traced to Ajmer, Rajasthan. Acting swiftly, a police team from Worli was dispatched to apprehend the suspect and verify the authenticity of the claim.
Mumbai Police have tightened security measures across the city and are coordinating with central intelligence agencies to assess any potential danger. “A detailed investigation is underway to trace the sender and ascertain the motive behind the message,” said a senior police official. Sources said the sender identified himself as Prince Khan. The message warned of a plot to target Mumbai, Dhanbad, PM Modi, and Khan himself.
