Bijili, Sadak, Paani dominated India’s electoral landscape for a considerable period. With changing times, changing preferences meant elections and their outcome does not depend on just issues anymore. As a rapidly developing nation, our priorities in the world’s largest democracy cannot be diluted. We are curious, active and enthusiastic about our voting right, but do we ask for the right things from all our candidates and future law makers.
E.F.I has launched a campaign inviting civic society voices to encourage political parties and candidates to highlight-prioritise nature conservation in their poll promises. Clean air, freshwater, waste management, conservation, man-animal conflict and ways to prevent it, oceans, hills, soil to every aspect of our planet is under immense stress. For a healthy-happy society, disciplined coexistence on this planet should be the norm. There is no bigger unifier and delivery agent than the government. Thus, it is imperative that those who would occupy the benches of treasury and opposition should focus on nature for our future. #BlueGreenCleanElections is an effort encouraging citizens to highlight the nature problems and associated solutions in their constituencies, which would then be sent to all contesting candidates by E.F.I. We will constructively engage with the candidates and the ensuing winner to work with them over the next five years in ensuring that the highlighted issue is addressed effectively by rule of law and nature.
