Mumbai: The BJP takes a collective decision and sometimes the decision gets delayed, said Vijay Rupani, central observer for the election of the party’s legislative leader.
Addressing a press conference at Vidhan Bhavan Central Hall after the election of Devendra Fadnavis as legislative leader, Rupani said the BJP also had to hold discussions with its alliance partners and take everyone along.
Rupani said on Thursday the CM and two DCMs will take oath. He brushed aside questions on caretaker CM Eknath Shinde being upset, saying no one was upset. Discussions on portfolio distribution would take place on Wednesday night, he said.
Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said after the Lok Sabha elections, the assembly election results were unexpected and unprecedented. “The people of Maharashtra and before that the Haryana election result, the people gave a message for viksit Bharat,” she said. Sitharaman said the double-engine govt will work to fulfil all promises made in the manifesto. “It is clear that the Congress-led govt caused huge losses, which needs to be reminded to the people and take the state forward, be it industry or regional development. The bullet train project was delayed, as was the construction of the Metro car shed in Aarey. We will restore Mumbai’s prime status,” she said. — Clara Lewis
