Article Writing Competition by VidhiMitra, the Legal Aid Cell, DNLU

About the Competition

The Article Writing Competition is being organised with the objective of promoting research, analysis, and academic writing on contemporary legal issues.

The competition seeks to encourage students to critically engage with emerging developments in law and policy and to articulate their arguments in a structured and scholarly manner.

Eligibility

The competition is proposed to be open to students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes.

Theme & Sub themes

The broad proposed theme for the competition is: Contemporary Challenges in Law and Justice.

Participants may write on any topic falling within the broad contours of the above theme. Illustrative sub-themes may include:

  • Constitutional law and emerging jurisprudence
  • Criminal justice and procedural reform
  • Technology, privacy, and digital governance
  • Gender justice and the law
  • Environmental law and climate justice
  • Access to justice and legal aid
  • Human rights and vulnerable communities
  • Arbitration, commercial law, and regulatory developments
  • Mental health and the legal framework
  • Law, society, and public policy

These sub-themes are only indicative and not exhaustive.

Submission Guidelines

  • Co-authorship: Up to one author may be permitted, i.e., maximum two persons are permitted.
  • Word Limit: 1,000 to 1,500 words, exclusive of footnotes.
  • Formatting:
    • Font: Times New Roman
    • Font Size: 12 for main text
    • Font Size: 10 for footnotes
    • Line Spacing: 1.5
    • Alignment: Justified
  • Citation Style: OSCOLA citation style
  • Submissions must be original and unpublished. Any form of plagiarism or use of AI shall result in disqualification.

  • Submission closes 09 April 2026

Fee

  • Rs. 800 per person (without accommodation)
  • Rs. 1500 per person (with accommodation and passes for pro nights)
  • Rs. 500 Per person (for DNLU students)

Prizes

  • 1st Prize: ₹10,000
  • 2nd Prize: ₹5,000
  • Publication Opportunity: Top 15 entries will be published in an ISBN book.
