Aravindh Chithambaram clinches Prague Chess Masters 2025 title

NEW DELHI: Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram emerged as the Prague Chess Masters 2025 champion after an outstanding performance, scoring 6/9 points to secure the title. This is only his second classical super-tournament, making the achievement even more remarkable.
In the final round, Aravindh played a solid draw against Ediz Gurel, ensuring sole first place. His victory not only cements his status among the world’s elite but also propels him to World No. 14, with a live rating of 2743.

The young Indian GM had already put himself in a strong position after an easy draw with David Navara in the penultimate round, maintaining a half-point lead over compatriot R Praggnanandhaa, who also drew against Vietnam’s Quang Liem Le.
