Businessman Anil Ambani has assured the Supreme Court of India that he will remain in the country and fully cooperate with investigations being carried out by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate.
The undertaking was filed in response to a petition seeking a court-monitored investigation into alleged large-scale loan irregularities involving companies associated with the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG). In his affidavit, Ambani stated that he has not travelled outside India since July 2025 and has no immediate plans to do so. He further committed that if any foreign travel becomes necessary, he would first obtain permission from the Supreme Court.
The affidavit also affirms his willingness to assist investigative authorities and comply with summons issued in connection with the ongoing probes. Ambani has reportedly been called to appear before the Enforcement Directorate later this month and has indicated his readiness to attend.
Earlier, the Supreme Court expressed concern over the pace of the investigation and directed both agencies to accelerate their inquiries. The Court instructed the ED to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and asked the CBI to register separate FIRs based on individual complaints from banks rather than relying solely on a single complaint. It also emphasized the need to examine the potential involvement of bank officials without unnecessary procedural delays.
The petitioner has argued that the existing investigation lacks comprehensiveness and has sought judicial supervision to ensure a transparent and thorough examination of the alleged financial misconduct.
