Amit Shah hits out at Congress over doctored video, says BJP supports reservation

Home Minister Amit Shah made a strong attack on the Congress today following the circulation of a deep-fake video in which he appeared to be advocating for the removal of reservations. A Congress worker named Reetam Singh from Guwahati, Assam was apprehended yesterday for allegedly creating and spreading the deep-fake video featuring the Home Minister.

In the video, Mr. Shah seemed to be discussing the elimination of all reservations, but in reality, he was specifically referring to the removal of quota for Muslims based on religious grounds in Telangana. The BJP had previously abolished such a quota in Karnataka before losing power to the Congress.

During a press conference today, Mr. Shah played both the original and doctored videos to demonstrate what he truly said and how the manipulated content misrepresented his words.

A Congress member by the name of Reetam Singh, hailing from Guwahati, Assam, was apprehended yesterday for allegedly producing and circulating the bogus video of the Home Minister.

The deceptive video portrayed Mr. Shah discussing the abolition of all reservations, however, his actual statement pertained to only eliminating reservation for Muslims on religious basis in Telangana. The BJP had previously terminated such a quota in Karnataka before losing power to the Congress.

During a press briefing today, Mr. Shah showcased both videos to clarify his true remarks versus what the manipulated content falsely attributed to him.
