During an election rally in Vrindavan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a significant announcement regarding the first phase of polling. He confidently stated that the Congress and SP had been completely wiped out in this phase. Later in the day, during an election meeting in Meerut, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav claimed that the atmosphere in the state had changed and that people had rejected the BJP after the first day of polling. In response, Shah emphasized the difference between the Congress and SP, who he accused of being involved in scams and corruption worth Rs 12 lakh crores, and Narendra Modi, who he praised for his clean record. Shah highlighted the contrasting backgrounds of the two leaders, with Modi coming from a humble background and Rahul Gandhi being born into privilege.
He urged the people to make their decision between the two. Taking a dig at Rahul and Akhilesh, Shah mentioned their previous alliance in 2017 and predicted that they would come together again in 2024. However, he confidently stated that the BJP would secure the maximum number of seats in Uttar Pradesh.
Shah also criticized the opposition parties for their lack of development initiatives in Uttar Pradesh, claiming that the state had seen significant progress under the BJP government. He highlighted various schemes and projects that had been implemented for the welfare of the people, including the construction of roads, provision of electricity, and improvement of healthcare facilities.
