As per Amazon AWS, the collaboration with ISRO will allow the company to assist research institutes and space start-ups to access the latest cloud-technologies to develop cutting-edge solutions in the space sector.
AWS (Amazon Web Services) has recently signed a MoU with ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) and IN-SPACe (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre. As per the MoU, AWS will support space-tech solutions through cloud computing.

We look forward to helping customers in India build space-tech solutions to make life on Earth better.”
According to AWS, this outstanding collaboration aims to support students, research institutes, and space start-ups with cloud technologies that would enable them to develop cutting-edge solutions in the space sector.
Kapoor, in her interview, mentioned, “We are at a pivotal time in India’s space journey as the Indian government focuses on broadening and strengthening the country’s capabilities in the aerospace and satellite industry.”

“AWS noted in its release that cloud computing would enable the speedy management of large volumes of raw space data, besides running AI, ML and analytics workloads to achieve meaningful outcomes in a highly cost-effective manner.”
Director of Capacity Building and Public Outreach at ISRO, Sudheer Kumar N, said, “Advancing innovation in the space sector is a top priority for our nation as geospatial solutions have the power to deliver high quality services for the good governance for citizens and add value to the stakeholders.”
In addition to supporting research institutes and students, ISRO, IN-SPACe and AWS will jointly work to support start-up companies in the space sector in every possible way. In a joint statement, AWS mentioned that it will support space start-ups with tools, technical support expertise and resources through the AWS Activate program at no extra cost.
Vinod Kumar, Director, Promotion Directorate, IN-SPACe, said, “After the Chandrayaan-3 moon landing and Aditya L-1 mission, it is time we leverage the limitless potential of space technology and cloud computing to propel India’s space sector to new heights. IN-SPACe has continuously been striving to empower and facilitate the private space sector.”
