The standing committee of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Thursday approved Rs 792.5 crore for a convention, cultural, and business centre project at the Sabarmati Riverfront near Paldi. The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd will prepare the DPR (draft project report) and seek Rs 500 crore from the state, while the AMC will contribute Rs 292.50 crore for the project. The proposed project includes a theatre with 1,500 seats, a hotel containing 300 rooms, an exhibition space, and a parking facility with capacity for 1,000 vehicles. It will also have a performing arts venue, an amphitheatre, and a cultural plaza. The location is intended to accommodate business functions and wedding celebrations.
