At a time when two phases of the Lok Sabha polls are over, TMC’s National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee came candid on why an alliance between Congress and his party in West Bengal didn’t materialise. Abhishek said that his party was interestes in collaborating with the Grand Old Party and he even met Rahul Gandhi at the latter’s house at 6 am. As quoted by news agency PTI, Banerjee elaborated that TMC truly represents the INDIA conglomerate in the state of West Bengal, reports Diganta Guha from Kolkata. -Abhishek slams Congress
TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee called off the alliance with Congress in the state after facing a volley of barbs from state Congress chief Adhir Chowdhury a known Mamata foe. -Abhishek slams Congress
“Had I not been serious, I would not have rushed to Rahul Gandhi’s residence in Delhi at 6 am. We were willing to have an alliance with the Congress in Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal, and despite state Congress president Adhir Ranjan Choudhury’s barbs at our party for months we did not react for a long time,” Abhishek said.
This comes in the wake of a video being circulated where a BJP supporter purportedly alleges that the Sandeshkhali rape charges are false and fabricated and an illiterate woman was quoted that she was forced to put her approval on a paper without the knowledge what was she signing on.
The BJP supporter has dragged the name of party leaders Suvendu Adhikari into the alleged video which is claimed to be doctored.
Meanwhile, the Congress-Left Front and TMC continue to take jibes at each other over West Bengal but it remains to be seen how far it helps the conglomerate at the National level.
