In a series of Jansabhas held across Vishwas Nagar, Krishna Nagar, and Gandhi Nagar, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal outlined his vision for AAP’s next term, positioning employment generation and the eradication of unemployment in Delhi as his top priorities. Highlighting the work done by the AAP government over the past decade and the plans for the future, Arvind Kejriwal asserted that AAP’s policies would focus on inclusivity, affordability, and accessibility to basic amenities and social welfare benefits. Addressing large gatherings, Arvind Kejriwal talked about his guarantees, including a ₹2,100 monthly Samman Rashi for women under the “Mahila Samman Yojana,” a ₹18,000 monthly Dakshina for pujaris and granthis, and the extension of free electricity and water benefits to tenants. He also promised 50% concessions on Delhi Metro fares for students and free bus travel for them, mirroring the ongoing free bus services for women. He also pledged a comprehensive overhaul of Delhi’s sewer infrastructure alongside a security fund for Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) to ensure enhanced safety in residential areas. Arvind Kejriwal warned against what he described as the “empty promises and lack of vision” in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) manifesto, slamming them for focusing solely on personal attacks against him rather than presenting actionable solutions for Delhi’s pressing challenges. He further said that BJP’s past record in Delhi, particularly in areas under its jurisdiction such as law and order, has led to an increase in gang wars, extortion threats to traders, and deteriorating safety standards for women. Calling for a decisive mandate, Arvind Kejriwal urged voters to reject BJP candidates, cautioning that electing BJP MLAs would lead to stagnation in development due to obstructionist politics. Amongst rousing chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” addressed massive gatherings across the three constituencies. He said: “You entrusted a small man like me with the responsibility of Delhi ten years ago. I don’t know what you saw in me, but you made me the Chief Minister of Delhi. For the past ten years, I have treated Delhi’s two crore people as my family, and together with you, we have accomplished great things in Delhi. These achievements were not mine alone; I couldn’t have done it without your support at every step. We have nurtured Delhi. While some tasks have been completed, many remain to be done, and we will accomplish those in the future.”He went on to talk about what he achieved over the past ten years. “Remember 2015, when our government was formed? Before that, there was Congress’ Sheila Ji’s government. Back then, there used to be power cuts of six to eight hours daily. Isn’t that right? Raise your hands if you agree. Were there power cuts or not? Electricity used to be wasted, didn’t it? People needed inverters in both summer and winter. The situation in Delhi was terrible. Now, electricity doesn’t go out anymore. Delhi receives 24-hour electricity. This has been achieved through relentless efforts day and night. We have improved Delhi. We have fixed the electricity infrastructure in Delhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governs 20 states, yet not a single one of them provides 24-hour electricity. Even in Gujarat, where the BJP has been in power for 30 years, there are no 24-hour electricity services. Long power cuts still occur. Forget Gujarat, call up someone in Noida, Faridabad, Gurugram, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, or Rajasthan—anywhere the BJP governs—and you’ll hear about 10-hour power cuts.”Cautioning, “If, by mistake, the wrong button is pressed this time, even Delhi will experience 10-hour power cuts,” he added, “Don’t press the wrong button. Don’t press the lotus button (BJP’s election symbol), even by mistake. If you do, Delhi’s electricity will become as bad as that of BJP’s states. Remember, ten years ago, when our government was formed, during the election campaign on these very roads, people used to show me their electricity bills—₹10,000 for some, ₹8,000 for others, or even ₹12,000. Now, most people in Delhi get free electricity. Zero electricity bills! Raise your hands if you’ve ever received a zero electricity bill. In Delhi, electricity is free up to 200 units. If you consume between 200 and 400 units, even then, the bill is only ₹800. Compare this to Gujarat, where 400 units cost ₹4,500. Think about it—if you press the wrong button, your electricity bills will start coming in the thousands. Am I wrong? BJP governs 20 states, and electricity bills in those states are ₹10,000, ₹5,000, or ₹8,000 per month. Here in Delhi, because of Kejriwal, an honest man, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), your electricity is affordable and free. Shouldn’t electricity remain free?”Arvind Kejriwal also threw spotlight on his achievements in education. “Before we came to power, what was the condition of government schools? Government schools in Delhi have improved, haven’t they? If you press the wrong button, your children won’t forgive you when they grow up. They’ll say, “Mom, Dad, you pressed the wrong button and ruined my future.” Am I wrong? The BJP will ruin all schools just like they did in other states. With great difficulty, Atishi Ji, Manish Sisodia Ji, and I, along with Delhi’s two crore people, have improved the condition of Delhi’s schools. It took a lot of effort to nurture Delhi. In some parts of the city, I learned there are only three-four Mohalla Clinics because the wrong MLA was chosen there, and they didn’t allow more clinics to be built. I repeatedly asked them, saying, “At least build the Mohalla Clinics. What’s the issue?” They didn’t do it because they feared we’ll get credit. These clinics provide free medicines and free tests, benefiting the public. What’s the point of politicizing something that helps people?”“What hurt me even more is that just three days ago, the BJP announced in its manifesto that Mohalla Clinics would be shut down,” he added. “They have no shame. In the last five years, five crore people have received treatment at Mohalla Clinics. Whether it was for fever, cough, cold, or other ailments, people—women, children, and families—found care at clinics near their homes. Doctors, medicines, and tests are all free. But the BJP has declared that if they come to power, they will shut down Mohalla Clinics. Do you want these clinics to close? Then don’t press the lotus button. If you do, all the Mohalla Clinics will shut down.”Arvind Kejriwal also talked about AAP’s free water scheme. “We made water free for you. But when I was jailed, something happened in collaboration with the LG (Lieutenant Governor), and massive water bills began arriving across Delhi. IThose who are receiving incorrect water bills don’t need to pay them. Once our government is formed, we will waive all incorrect bills.”Addressing the women present there, he said, “my mothers and sisters—you travel on buses for free. BJP leaders are saying that Kejriwal has overly empowered women, giving them free travel on buses. Of all BJP-ruled states, not a single one provides free bus travel for women. If you press the wrong button, you’ll have to start paying for bus travel again. Mothers and sisters, think about it—if the wrong button is pressed, you’ll have to spend at least ₹2,000–₹2,500 per month on bus travel. Don’t press the wrong button. Don’t press the lotus button.”Reiterating his guarantees, Arvind Kejriwal said, “For the dignity of women, we are introducing the “Mahila Samman Yojana” (Women’s Dignity Scheme). Under this scheme, ₹2,100 will be deposited every month into the accounts of all women. If your registration is already done, great. If not, registration will reopen after the elections, and those who missed out can register then. We are also introducing the “Sanjeevani Yojana.” Many elderly people, after crossing 60–70 years, worry about medical expenses. I want to assure my senior citizens—my parents are also elderly and live with me—that your son Kejriwal is still alive. Don’t worry; I will take care of your medical needs. Whether it’s treatment in a government or private hospital, the Delhi government will bear all costs. Those registered under the Sanjeevani Yojana are already covered, and those who aren’t will get another chance to register after the elections. To all students present, raise your hands. Many students in schools will be happy to know that just as bus travel is free for women, it will also be free for students. Additionally, Delhi Metro fares for students will have a 50% concession.”He added, “We’ve already made electricity and water free in Delhi, but I’ve realized that our tenant families don’t get the benefits. We are bringing a plan for them. I bring good news for all tenants. We will create a system so that tenants also benefit from free electricity and water. Many pujaris have also joined us here. For pujaris, we have introduced a plan to provide ₹18,000 per month as a Dakshina. Since I announced this, BJP leaders have been abusing me left and right. I told them, “Why are you abusing me? You have a central government. Announce a bigger amount than me. Declare ₹36,000 per month for priests across the country.” Should pujaris be given this or not? They come to your home, perform rituals, and leave quietly, regardless of whether you give them ₹10, ₹6,000, or ₹10,000. They never complain about insufficient offerings. Have you ever thought about how they run their households? If I’ve thought about it and introduced this, isn’t it a good thing?”He noted that many areas face severe sewage problems. “I will personally focus on this issue and ensure that all old sewage lines in Delhi are replaced so that these problems disappear,” he said, adding, “For RWAs, we will provide financial assistance to hire security guards for your safety. The government will pay for the guards you need to ensure the security of your residents.”Arvind Kejriwal said, “We have launched a significant initiative from the Rajendra Nagar constituency. In the Pandav Nagar Colony of Rajendra Nagar, clean water is now being supplied directly through taps 24/7. We will now expand this across Delhi. Within the next 5 years, every household will receive clean water directly from taps, round the clock.”Talking about his future plans for the youth, Arvind Kejriwal announced that the biggest initiative he is going to undertake is creating jobs. “Many of our children are sitting unemployed at home. They have no jobs, no livelihood, even after completing their education. My top priority for the next five years will be employment—ensuring that our children get jobs. Many people ask me, “Kejriwal Ji, where will the money come from? How will you manage such funding?” I tell them, “I am a Baniya’s son. Don’t worry about the funds. All that matters is enjoying the fruit, not counting the seeds. Trust me, I’ll manage the funds and complete all the work.”” He continued, saying in Delhi, AAP currently has a half government— “half power is with us, and half is with the BJP. In 2014 and 2015, you gave us partial power and gave them the other half. I’ve listed all the work we’ve accomplished—schools, hospitals, electricity, water, roads. Meanwhile, what has the BJP’s half government done in ten years? Today, gang wars are rampant in Delhi, bullets are fired on the streets, women feel unsafe leaving their homes, and traders receive extortion calls. I’ve met shopkeepers who shared their ordeals. They receive calls saying, “Pay ₹2 crore, or your entire family will be eliminated.” How are people supposed to run their businesses in such an environment? The BJP has ruined Delhi. They were given one responsibility—law and order—and they failed. Now they are asking for full control of Delhi. How can we hand over the entire city to them when they’ve already messed up their share? When asked what they plan to do, their only response is to abuse me: “Kejriwal is corrupt.” When asked who their Chief Minister candidate is, they say, “Kejriwal is a crook.” When asked about their vision, they respond, “Kejriwal is a Naxalite.” “Kejriwal is a terrorist.””“I’ve brought a list of all the names they’ve called me: Kejriwal is a scoundrel, a terrorist, a disgrace, a Pakistani, an AK-49, a traitor, a shameless man, a villain, a demon. This is BJP’s manifesto! They proudly claim their plan is to hurl abuses at Kejriwal. Will abusing me solve Delhi’s problems?,” he questioned, adding, “I have never abused them. I come to you asking for votes, listing what I’ve done in ten years and what I plan to do in the next five. If you like my work, you’ll vote for me; if not, you won’t. But they have no achievements to show. Let them tell you one thing they’ve accomplished in the last ten years. They’ve done nothing!”The AAP Convenor further said that now, the BJP suddenly seems to care about Jhuggi dwellers. “They are visiting JJ clusters, spending nights there, pretending to care. For ten years, they never bothered, but now, just a month before elections, they are acting like they care. The truth is, they don’t care about you; they care about your votes. After the elections, they’ll sell all your land. If you press the wrong button, remember—your land is their target. Within a year, they’ll demolish all the slums and hand over your land to Adani, Ambani, and big builders. Stay cautious, and don’t let them fool you.”Drawing references from the Ramayana, he added, “These BJP people are like that golden deer in Ramayana. Don’t fall for their tricks, or you’ll lose everything. These days, they’re mingling with Jhuggi dwellers, playing games with their children, and taking pictures with them. But after the elections, they’ll bring bulldozers to demolish your homes. Beware of their golden deer.”Making a heartfelt appeal, Arvind Kejriwal said, “I fold my hands and request you—last time, some of you made a mistake. Out of 70 seats in Delhi, we won 62, but we lost 8. On some of the seats, their party’s MLAs won. I must give them credit; for 10 years, he has quarreled hard—but he hasn’t done a single piece of work. I’ve heard there are water issues in every colony where their MLAs are. Sewer issues, roads are broken, garbage is piling up everywhere. They haven’t solved any of this. If you want five more years of fights and arguments, vote for them. But if you want development, then vote for us. Across Delhi, people are saying the Aam Aadmi Party is forming the government. Some say the seats might vary slightly. But I’m telling you, there’s no question of fewer seats. We’ll win even more.”He concluded, “If our government is forming, then make sure to elect our MLA as well. Don’t make a mistake this time. If you elect their MLA, he’ll spend the next five years fighting with me and blocking progress. They’re also quite disrespectful—don’t even talk decently. Am I wrong? People have come to me and complained about their behavior. They don’t speak politely. But our candidates are humble, respectful, and will ensure all your work gets done. They will take responsibility for solving all pending issues —be it electricity, water, sewage, or roads. I’m telling you this in front of everyone: if they don’t deliver, you can come to me, and I’ll pull their ears. So, press the right button this time to keep Delhi’s development moving forward.”
