    About the Organiser

    The Indo-Dutch Research Centre (IDRC) was established by the Government of Kerala at Government Law College, Ernakulam, under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Van Vollenhoven Institute (VVI), Leiden Law School, Leiden University, the Netherlands. The MoU was signed on December 13, 2024.

    The Centre brings together legal scholarship, community engagement, and cross-border knowledge exchange to address issues relating to climate resilience, sustainability, and justice in Kerala and beyond.

    About the Competition

    The Indo-Dutch Research Centre invites student teams to engage with their local communities through a documentary film and a policy analysis report on issues relating to climate resilience.

    Participating teams will explore an identified issue by documenting community perspectives and analysing policy gaps and possible solutions. All qualifying teams will be invited to a public screening and prize distribution ceremony on December 19, 2026, where the winning policy briefs will be presented to a government representative.

    Eligibility

    The competition is open to:

    • Teams comprising 2 to 5 students.
    • Students currently enrolled in any college or university in Kerala.
    • Students from all disciplines, including law, environmental science, social work, journalism, film, economics, public policy, and related fields.

    Submission Requirement

    Participants are required to submit both:

    • A documentary film; and
    • A policy analysis report.

    Prizes

    The competition offers a total prize pool of Rs. 1 lakh. Prizes will be awarded under the following categories:

    • Best Documentary Film
    • First Prize: Rs. 20,000
    • Second Prize: Rs. 12,000
    • Third Prize: Rs. 8,000
    • Best Policy Analysis Report
    • First Prize: Rs. 20,000
    • Second Prize: Rs. 12,000
    • Third Prize: Rs. 8,000
    • Most Impactful Community Story (Jury Special Award): Rs. 10,000
    • Most Innovative Approach (Jury Special Award): Rs. 10,000

    Important Dates

    • Registration Deadline: July 15, 2026
    • Fieldwork, Filming, Interviews, and Report Writing: August-September 2026
    • Submission Deadline: October 15, 2026
    • Jury Evaluation: November 2026
    • Grand Finale: December 19, 2026
