and order dated 17.02.2025 passed by the High Court of
    16:41:47 IST
    Reason:

Judicature at Madras in W.A. No. 1220 of 2015. An application

    1
seeking condonation of delay of 101 days in filing the Special

Leave Petition has also been preferred.

    4. The aforesaid writ appeal arose from the order dated

29.07.2015 passed by the learned Single Judge in W.P. No.

16716 of 2014, whereby challenge was laid to G.O.(Ms.)No. 156,

Industries (MMD.1) Department, dated 08.08.2013, and the

    consequential G.O.(Ms.)No.173 Industries (MMD.1) Department,

dated 17.09.2013, issued by the State Government constituting

a Special Team headed by Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi, IAS, in

exercise of its powers under Section 24 of the Mines and

Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957, for

inspection and verification of alleged illicit mining of major

minerals, namely, Garnet, Ilmenite and Rutile, in mining

leases granted to private parties in the districts of

Tirunelveli, Tiruchirapalli, Kanniyakumari and Madurai. The

Government Orders further directed that pending completion of

the inspection and verification, mining operations and

issuance of transport permits in respect of the aforesaid

    leases shall remain suspended.

    5. Having given our anxious consideration to the matter and

upon perusal of the material placed on record, we are of the

view that the Division Bench has, by a detailed and well-

reasoned judgment, allowed the writ appeal and set aside the

order of the learned Single Judge after duly considering all

the relevant legal and factual aspects governing the issues

involved. We find no error, much less any manifest illegality

or perversity, warranting interference by this Court in

    2
exercise of its jurisdiction under Article 136 of the

    Constitution of India.

    6. Accordingly, the Special Leave Petition stands dismissed

both on the ground of delay as well as on merits.

    7. Pending application(s), if any, shall stand disposed of.
