How did you apply?
The internship application was made through a walk-in process, during which I visited the chamber of the respected advocate to whom I had been recommended.
I submitted my CV and No Objection Certificate and inquired about the internship process, including the responsibilities that would be assigned during the internship and the eligibility requirements to work as an intern.
First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression
On the first day of my internship, I first introduced myself to all the members present there. Thereafter, the sir under whose guidance I was working introduced me to the court and its functioning. It was essentially my introduction to the court, its governance, and its working system.
He explained how the primary functions of the court begin and how these processes lead to the delivery of justice. He also described the structure of the court and its working procedures.
All of this helped me gain basic knowledge about the court and enhanced my understanding through practical exposure.
Main Tasks
The internship was a new experience for me, as it was my first visit to a court. I was assigned responsibilities such as case study analysis and identifying the main issues raised in case files.
Case briefing was also one of my tasks. In addition, I was given writing assignments to practice drafting, issue framing, and legal research on various case laws and their relevance in future legal contexts. I was also required to attend court hearings, which helped me understand the actual functioning of the court.
One of the most important aspects of my internship was observing the working of advocates and developing practical legal skills.
Work Environment
Overall, the internship experience was good. The court environment was very formal, and everyone was engaged in their respective work, including preparing cases, drafting arguments, and arranging files while ensuring all details related to each case were properly maintained.
Good Things about the Internship
The internship provided me with a platform to learn new things and enhance my knowledge. The overall experience was highly formal, which helped in developing skills that can contribute to both personal and professional growth.
Another positive aspect was that, instead of engaging in unrelated activities, the internship kept me actively involved in the functioning of the court, allowing me to experience it as a part of the system in the capacity of an intern.
Bad Things about the Internship
This was my first experience of working in a court, and the environment was very formal, which initially made me hesitant to express my views or discuss the assigned tasks.
However, with time, I gradually became more comfortable with the internship, and I started expressing my opinions and engaging more actively in completing the assigned work and addressing the challenges related to task completion.
Monthly Stipend
It was an unpaid internship, and therefore, no stipend was provided.
Details about the accommodation, commuting to the office
I live near the office, so commuting to the office was not an issue.
