About NUSRL, Ranchi
National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, was established in 2010 through an Act of the Jharkhand State Legislature with the vision to promote excellence in legal education and research.
The University has subsequently been recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) u/s 22 of the UGC Act of 1956 and also approved u/s 12B by Bar Council of India. The University since its inception has continuously endeavoured towards thriving excellence and producing bright minds in the legal and other associated arenas.
Nestled in the serene environment of Ranchi, NUSRL aims to combine traditional legal knowledge with modern approaches to meet the growing complexities of society and governance. Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand, is the Rector of NUSRL, Ranchi.
Hon’ble The Chief Justice High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi is the Chancellor and Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil is the Vice-Chancellor of the University.

About the Continuous Legal Education Program
The six-month Continuous Legal Education (CLE) Program is designed to equip young lawyers with advanced litigation skills and structured mentorship, thereby bridging critical gaps in legal practice. As part of the initiative, a district-level survey will also be conducted to assess caseload trends.
By integrating direct intervention, professional development, and systemic reform, NUSRL aims to enhance access to justice, promote legal empowerment, and create a lasting impact for marginalized communities in Jharkhand.
Eligibility
- Age & Experience: Young lawyers with 0–5 years of practice (Enrolment after May 31st 2021) are eligible.
- Enrolment: Must be enrolled with the Jharkhand State Bar Council or any other State Bar Councils in India.
- District Representation: Applicants from all 24 districts of Jharkhand are eligible; selection will ensure district-wise representation.
- Marginalised Community Representation: Priority will be given to candidates belonging to marginalised groups.
- Commitment to Attend: Applicant must undertake to attend all four training phases and comply with the residential requirement.
Program Fee
The Program will be conducted free of cost, however, the selected candidates shall bear their respective travel expense.
Program Structure
- Each participant must attend four training phases within a six-month period; each phase consists of three residential training days.
- The program is fully residential. All participants are required to reside in the residential arrangement made by the University for the entire duration of each training phase.
- 100% attendance during each training phase is mandatory.
- A certificate will be awarded only upon successful completion of all mandatory training phases and after clearing the written test at the end of the Program.
- Seats allotted under the CLE program are non-transferable.
Deadline
Applications must be submitted on or before 20th May 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.
