About the Role
The Ethics Advisor will work within WFP’s Ethics Office, a unit established to ensure that the organization operates in line with the highest standards of integrity and accountability. Reporting to the Senior Ethics Officer, the role involves advising staff and leadership on ethical conduct, compliance, and organizational values.
This position is particularly strategic, as it supports WFP’s commitment to transparency, ethical governance, and adherence to international standards, including those outlined in the **United Nations Charter and civil service codes.
Key Responsibilities
The Ethics Advisor will handle a broad portfolio of responsibilities that combine advisory, compliance, and policy functions:
- Provide confidential and independent ethics guidance on issues such as conflicts of interest, conduct, and decision-making
- Manage and document ethics-related requests in line with internal protocols
- Support disclosure systems, including financial and conflict-of-interest reporting
- Assist in handling whistleblower protection cases in coordination with senior leadership
- Contribute to the development of ethics policies, tools, and operational procedures
- Deliver training sessions and awareness initiatives across headquarters and country offices
- Promote a strong organizational culture rooted in integrity and accountability
Eligibility
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- An advanced university degree in law, ethics, public administration, international affairs, compliance, or a related field
- At least six years of relevant professional experience in ethics, legal advisory, or compliance roles
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive issues with confidentiality and professionalism
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Fluency in English, with working knowledge of another UN language considered an advantage
Candidates should also be comfortable working in high-pressure environments and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
