First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression
On the first day, Meghna ma’am introduced herself, the fellow associates, and interns, and the greetings continued. At first glance, the chamber looked cozy and welcoming, and the court complex was easy to navigate.
The court staff seemed supportive and willing to help readily. Overall, it appeared to be an environment in which I would be interested in pursuing future opportunities.
Main Tasks
My main tasks were researching, tracking cases, dates, and files; drafting various documents (bail applications, replies, legal notices, complaints, etc.); client counselling; communication with DLSA, Shahdara; and watching court proceedings.
The internship offered great practical exposure to the functioning of courts and the management of cases.
Work Environment
The work environment is enriching. Ma’am always cleared all doubts and explained all tasks with great clarity. The staff and advocates at the court were also very friendly and approachable and did not hamper the work, and were supportive.
Good Things about the Internship
The most rewarding aspect of this experience was being able to work closely with ma’am. Meghna ma’am was really kind and approachable. She took out time to explain each concept which was new to me and the other interns. Her advice was invaluable.
The tasks given were easy to understand and follow. Overall, the internship was a great opportunity that enhanced my legal knowledge, research, and drafting skills. I gained firsthand experience of court functioning, case tracking, and client counselling.
It increased my confidence, discipline, and critical thinking. Additionally, it allowed me to understand the practical application of legal provisions, while getting hands-on experience of courts and case handling.
It helped me improve my time management abilities and adaptability to a new environment. Another positive aspect is that the court is a minute’s walk away from the Karkardooma Court Metro Station.
Bad Things about the Internship
Although the internship was extremely valuable, there was one drawback—the lack of hygiene in the washroom facilities. However, to the best of my knowledge, the washrooms are to be renovated soon.
