First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression
The first day was just a professional meet-up with Monika Arora Ma’am and her associates, and they mentioned the everyday work and responsibilities. We were added to an intern group and told to share our weekly reports there.
Main Tasks
Each day began with reporting at the Delhi High Court by 10:00 am. An assessment intern, Mr Bhaskar Sati, along with Adv. Abhinav Verma would guide us through the day’s work.
Despite being an intern himself and Abhinav Sir being a recent law graduate, they were extremely knowledgeable and helpful, teaching us the basics of court practice. He would hand over the daily cause list, explaining which courtrooms we needed to observe.
The associates, particularly Mr. Subhrodeep Saha and Ms. Anamika Thakur, briefed us about the cases we were assigned to observe. They often encouraged us to share our understanding of the subject matter and discuss the relevant law, which was a great learning exercise.
They also explained how they intended to approach the matter in court, which helped us understand legal strategy in practice.
I was also given the opportunity to attend mediation proceedings with Mr. Prabhat Kumar, who explained how mediation works and the significance of this area of law in dispute resolution.
Overall, the associates were very approachable, supportive, and invested in ensuring that interns learned as much as possible during the internship.
Interaction with Monika ma’am was limited, as her time in court was bound by her packed schedule. However, in every interaction, her warm greeting of “Bache, kaise ho?” was extremely motivating and gave us a unique sense of confidence.
Work Environment
The work environment at the firm was extremely positive and conducive to learning. Everyone was kind, friendly, and willing to help, yet highly professional when it came to work.
One of the most memorable lessons came from Subhrodeep Sir, who always said: “Kaam ke time kaam, aur chit chat ke time chit chat.” This simple principle reflected the firm’s balance of professionalism and a friendly working environment.
The time I spent with Subhrodeep Sir and Anamika Ma’am helped me learn not just about court practice, but also about the journey of a first-generation lawyer. My interactions with Abhinav Sir provided valuable insights into the life of a young advocate starting his career.
I am also especially grateful to Bhaskar Bhaiya (senior intern), whose patient guidance helped me develop a strong understanding of the functioning of courts, something I will cherish for life.
When it comes to Monika Ma’am, she is an inspiring figure. Despite her hectic schedule as a Central Government Standing Counsel (CGSC), she always took out time to ask about our well-being and our experiences during the internship. Observing her argue in court against other advocates was one of the best things of my internship.
Good Things about the Internship
Internship under Monika Ma’am, listening to the way she speaks as she is a renowned orator, and receiving invaluable life and career lessons from her and her associates.
Bad Things about the Internship
None, I am not able to point out any bad aspect of the internship, as it has given good exposure to both litigation as well as arbitration.

Details about the Accommodation, Commuting to the Office
Commuting to the office is through the metro only, and there is no accommodation facility for us as we are Delhi-based students.
Anything else you want to share?
The associates were very friendly; they promoted a friendly work environment rather than irrelevant strictness.
