3rd Vidhi Vimarsh National Moot Court Competition 2026

About the Organisation

Sangam University was established in 2012 by the Badrilal Soni Charitable Trust and promoted by the Sangam Group of Industries with the vision of providing world-class higher education and fostering holistic development among students.

The School of Legal Studies (SOLS), approved by the Bar Council of India, aims to develop future legal professionals by combining strong theoretical foundations with practical exposure through academic activities such as moot courts, legal research, and advocacy training.

Event Details

The 3rd Vidhi Vimarsh National Moot Court Competition, 2026 focuses on contemporary issues in criminal law under the newly enacted criminal statutes of India. The moot problem titled “The State v. Dr. Aryan Malhotra” revolves around criminal liability arising from a medical procedure complicated by:

  • An intervening natural disaster (earthquake)
  • Automated medical technology
  • Issues relating to causation, mens rea, and evidentiary integrity

The proposition explores key legal doctrines such as:

  • Doctrine of Causation & Novus Actus Interveniens
  • Doctrine of Transferred Malice
  • Thin Skull Rule
  • Admissibility of Electronic Evidence

Relevant statutes include:

  • Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023
  • Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023
  • Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023

The competition will consist of preliminary rounds, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the grand finale.

Eligibility

The competition is open to students enrolled in:

  • 5-Year Integrated Law Programmes (BA LL.B., BBA LL.B., etc.)
  • 3-Year LL.B. Programmes

All participants must be bona fide students of their respective institutions.

Team Composition

Each team shall consist of:

  • Two Members (Both Speakers / One Speaker + One Researcher), OR
  • Three Members (Two Speakers and One Researcher)

Venue

School of Legal Studies, Sangam University, Bhilwara.

How to Register?

Participants must complete the registration by submitting the following details via email:

  • Name of the College / University
  • Names of Team Members with designation (Speaker 1 / Speaker 2 / Researcher)
  • Soft copy of memorials for both Petitioner and Respondent
  • Screenshot / receipt of registration fee payment

Important dates

  • Commencement of Registration: 26 February 2026
  • Last Date of Registration: 12 April 2026
  • Event Dates: 15-17 April 2026.
