Banks across India will observe multiple holidays in April 2026. The month will bring a mix of national festivals, regional new year celebrations, and mandatory weekend closures, making it important for customers to plan their financial activities.

According to the official schedule released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the month will begin with a bank holiday on April 1, which is observed as the annual closing of financial accounts.

On this day, banks carry out year-end financial processes and financial accounts for the previous financial year. Since this is a mandatory administrative holiday, bank branches in most states across the country will remain closed.

Apart from this, there will be several other holidays in April due to festivals celebrated in different parts of the country. In addition to these festival holidays, banks will also remain closed on all Sundays, as well as on the second and fourth Saturdays. These regular weekly offs further increase the number of non-working days for bank branches.

With multiple holidays lined up in April, customers who need to visit bank branches are advised to plan their work in advance to avoid delays and inconvenience.

However, customers need not worry about essential banking services during these holidays. Digital platforms such as internet banking, mobile banking apps, and UPI services will continue to operate normally, allowing users to carry out transactions without interruption.
