Name of the Organisation
Firstly, I did an internship with the All India Human Rights Association (AIHRA). It was a social NGO that helps people by giving them free legal aid. It was basically an online internship; it was virtual.
Duration of Internship
It was a 1-month internship.
How did you apply?
Truly speaking, I did most of my internship through Lawctopus. I mean, I searched for online internships on Lawctopus and found many good opportunities as per my convenience.
With that, I was able to manage my studies as well as the internship.
First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression
The first day was an interactive session where everyone was introduced and given a brief about the AIHRA organisation, its establishment, and its work.
They also gave us a virtual tour of their office and provided the opportunity to visit their office or premises to understand the workings more closely.
The mentor or guide appointed for us throughout this internship was very good and helpful. I don’t exactly know her name, but she was very kind.
Main Tasks
The main task given to us was legal research and writing various legal articles on recent legal cases that were prevailing at that time.
Another task assigned to us was to conduct brief research on various topics and issues, which was very helpful for us in the long run.
Work Environment
The work environment was very good; everyone, whether fellows or our mentor, was really helpful and supportive.
The work environment was very exciting, and we participated in various workshops, which were very helpful for us in our legal field.
Good Things about the Internship
The good thing about that internship was that everything we discussed or the work we did held great importance in our lives. We got to see many legal drafts, files, and much more.
Bad Things about the Internship
As such, I didn’t find any bad aspects; it was just that we, as new interns, were doing the internship for the first time, so we gained as much knowledge as we could.
Monthly Stipend
No, it was an unpaid internship.
Details about the Accommodation, Commuting to the Office
As it was virtual, it was very convenient for us to work from anywhere, and we were able to focus on both our studies and the internship as well.
Anything else you want to share?
I learned that, as a law student, I recommend everyone to go for internships, whether online or offline, because an internship is something that helps you gain knowledge as well as confidence in your legal field.
While doing an internship, you will also be building new legal networks with other people and gaining a lot from the experience. It also helps to improve your CV, which will be very helpful for you in the near future.
