How did you apply?
When I started, I was literally a 1st-year law fresher who didn’t even have the habit of reading articles or visiting legal websites regularly. But my curiosity (and honestly, desperation for experience) pushed me into cold-emailing every legal platform I could find.
I even mailed Lawctopus, but there was no reply… tragic hero moment. Then came LawChakra. They actually replied, told me they were planning to start an internship program, and encouraged me to apply. After the formalities and the interview rounds, I somehow made it in.
Looking back, that one small email taught me that sometimes you just have to shoot your shot, even if it lands in the spam folder.
First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression
There weren’t that many formalities. It was an online internship, so I just had a call with my mentor and got emailed my ID. We used Microsoft Teams as the medium, and I got to work on the first day itself.
Main Tasks
During my internship, legal research constituted the majority of my daily tasks. I was tasked with identifying legal provisions and creating organized reports on various legal topics, recent news, or incidents.
I occasionally had the chance to write scripts about current legal issues for Instagram reels and YouTube videos, which helped me understand how to make difficult subjects understandable to a larger audience.
Once, I was given an opportunity to write an article on a subject I was interested in.
Work Environment
The environment felt balanced, professional enough to keep you disciplined, but relaxed enough that you don’t feel like you’re interning at the Supreme Court itself. Most conversations were short, clear, and easy to follow.
Because it was online, I could work in my own comfort zone (aka my study table or bed). The team gave honest feedback without making it awkward, which I really appreciated.
Good Things about the Internship
The best thing about this internship was how much I actually learnt without feeling sleepy. The work was fun, flexible, and honestly made me faster at research than my own college assignments ever did. The team gave quick feedback, and I even got to write scripts for reels, something I never thought a law intern would do lol.
Bad Things about the Internship
Not too many bad things, but some tasks came super randomly and had to be done the same day. Also, since it was remote, sometimes I had doubts, but didn’t know exactly who to ask lol. And yes, no stipend… so my bank balance stayed emotionally stable (and empty).
Monthly Stipend
Nope, no stipend. My bank balance remained peacefully untouched.
Details about the Accommodation, Commuting to the Office
Since the internship was completely remote, there was no need for accommodation or daily commuting. My “office” was basically my room, my laptop, and a very moody WiFi connection. It was actually convenient because I could manage college and tasks without traveling anywhere.
Anything else you want to share?
I realised during this internship that taking small breaks actually saves you. My chill-out routine was simple: chai breaks, random music, and once in a while scrolling reels for “research purposes.” The biggest lesson? Don’t overthink drafts. Clear writing > fancy writing, always.
