The Act will now apply only to shops and establishments employing 20 or more employees.
• Working Hours Revised:
Maximum daily working hours increased from 9 hours to 10 hours (including rest interval and lunch break).
• Weekly Working Hours:
Limit increased from 54 hours to 60 hours.
• Overtime Limits:
Changed from 150 hours per year to 144 hours per quarter.
• Continuous Work Limit:
Employees cannot work more than 6 hours continuously without a break.
• Spread Over:
Maximum spread-over of working hours is 12 hours.
• Night Shift for Women:
Women can now work night shifts with safeguards such as written consent, CCTV surveillance, transport facility, and POSH compliance.
