Josh Welfare Society, Mata Mandir Road, Race Course, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India.

December 2025

I applied for this internship through my college as part of my academic requirements. After contacting the NGO and sharing my basic details, I was selected and assigned to work under the guidance of Ms. Supriya Chauhan.

On the first day, we were introduced to the NGO, its rules, and our duties. The infrastructure was simple but well-managed.

The classrooms had limited resources, yet the environment was disciplined and positive. My first impression was good, as everyone was helpful and focused on the children’s learning and development.

During the internship, my main tasks included teaching children basic subjects like English and Mathematics. I helped students with reading, writing, dictation, and simple math problems.

I also assisted in organizing creative activities, confidence-building exercises, and awareness programmes such as cyber safety and anti-drug sessions.

I observed students’ behaviour and learning difficulties, and helped motivate them through personal interaction. I also helped maintain discipline, arrange classrooms, and assist with admission records.

Home and school visits helped me understand the students’ backgrounds and challenges. Overall, the tasks helped me gain teaching experience and social understanding.

The work environment at the NGO was friendly, supportive, and disciplined. Teachers and volunteers guided us properly and treated everyone with respect. The children felt safe and comfortable while learning. Even with limited resources, the staff managed everything well.

The atmosphere encouraged teamwork, learning, and emotional support. The guidance of Ms Supriya Chauhan helped maintain a balance between discipline and care.

This internship gave me real-life experience and helped me understand social issues closely. I learned how NGOs work and how education can change lives. Teaching children improved my communication skills and patience. Interacting with students helped me develop empathy and confidence.

The guidance from the NGO staff was very helpful. The internship also helped me connect theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Overall, it was a meaningful and learning experience.

The NGO had limited resources, which sometimes made teaching difficult. Some students lacked confidence and motivation due to personal and family problems.

Behavioural issues were also challenging at times. However, these challenges helped me learn patience and problem-solving skills.

No Stipend.

I managed my accommodation personally. Daily commuting to the NGO and schools was done through local transport. The locations were easily reachable.

Traveling daily helped me observe the surrounding areas and understand the living conditions of the students better.

During the internship, I spent time interacting with children, reflecting on daily activities, and noting what I learned. This experience taught me patience, responsibility, teamwork, and empathy.

It helped me understand that education is not only about books but also about emotional support and guidance. The internship was both educational and personally enriching.
