The Kerala High Court has strongly criticised a group of new petitioners involved in the ongoing legal proceedings related to Kerala Story 2, after they allegedly made remarks casting aspersions on members of the judiciary. The court observed that such statements undermine the dignity of the judicial system and warned against attempts to question the integrity of judges without credible evidence.
During the hearing, the bench noted that the petitioners’ submissions contained allegations that appeared to doubt the impartiality of the judges handling the matter. The court said such accusations were inappropriate and could erode public trust in the justice system if made recklessly. Judges emphasised that litigants are free to challenge decisions through legal channels, but personal allegations against the judiciary cross an unacceptable line.
The controversy arose as new petitioners sought to intervene in the case related to Kerala Story 2. However, while presenting their arguments, they reportedly included statements that the court viewed as disparaging toward the judges. The bench responded firmly, reminding the petitioners and their counsel that criticism of judicial orders must remain within the bounds of law and respect for the institution.
The High Court also highlighted that the judiciary functions on the principle of independence and fairness, and any attempt to cast doubt on this without substantial proof is a serious matter. The bench warned that such conduct could invite legal consequences if repeated.
Legal experts note that courts across India have consistently taken a strict stance against remarks that could be seen as contemptuous or damaging to the reputation of the judiciary. While litigants have the right to seek remedies and question rulings, the courts expect that arguments remain focused on legal issues rather than personal allegations against judges.
The proceedings in the Kerala Story 2 matter are expected to continue, with the High Court making it clear that it will not tolerate attempts to undermine the credibility of the judicial process. The court reiterated that the rule of law depends on maintaining respect for institutions while allowing fair and lawful debate over judicial decisions.
