Laishram Bhopen Singh vs National Investigation Agency on 23 February, 2026

BEFORE
HON’BLE THE CHIEF JUSTICE MR. M. SUNDAR
HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE AHANTHEM BIMOL SINGH
(ORDER)
(Order of the Court was made by M. Sundar, CJ)

23.02.2026

[1] Captioned appeal is a statutory appeal under Section 21

of ‘the National Investigation Agency Act (34 of 2008)’ (‘NIA Act’ for the

sake of brevity)

[2] Mr. Ch. Ngongo, learned senior counsel instructed by Ms.

S. Gangarani, learned counsel on record for appellant, submits that the

captioned appeal is directed against ‘a bail rejection order dated

07.01.2026 made in Cril. Misc. (Bail) Case No. 462 of 2025’ on the file

of ‘Special Judge NIA Court-1, Manipur’. (This order shall be referred to

as ‘impugned order’ and ‘the court which made impugned order’ shall

be referred to as ‘said NIA Court’ both for the sake of convenience)

[3] Adverting to the impugned order, learned senior counsel

submits that the impugned order has proceeded on the basis of the

assertion of NIA that appellant has longstanding connection with cadre

of PLA/RPF when there is no iota of evidence in the case diary in this

regard.
