About the Organizer

Vaikunta Baliga College of Law, Udupi (formerly Udupi Law College), established in 1957, is the second-oldest law college in the State of Karnataka.

The institution is a unit of the Dr. T.M.A. Pai Foundation, Manipal, and is permanently affiliated to Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi.

The College is committed to imparting quality legal education and fostering advocacy skills, research excellence, and professional ethics among aspiring legal professionals.

About the Competition

Vaikunta Baliga College of Law proudly announces the Decennial Edition of the Advocate P. Shivaji Shetty Memorial Tenth National Level Moot Court Competition – 2026, scheduled from 10th to 12th April, 2026.

This prestigious national-level competition aims to promote constitutional reasoning, legal research, courtroom advocacy, and critical analysis among law students across India. The Competition includes:

  • Moot Court Rounds (Preliminary, Quarter-Final, Semi-Final & Final)
  • Judgment Writing Competition
  • Quiz Competition (Written & Oral Rounds)

The Moot Proposition for this edition addresses contemporary constitutional issues involving criminal law reform, mandatory sentencing, religious freedom, dignity, & proportionality, offering participants a challenging and intellectually stimulating experience.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to students enrolled in:
    • Three-Year LL.B. Course; or
    • Five-Year Integrated Law Course.
  • Institutions must be recognised by the Bar Council of India.
  • Each Team shall consist of:
    • Two Mooters; and
    • One Researcher.
  • Participation in the Judgment Writing Competition and Quiz Competition is compulsory as per the Rules of the Competition.

Registration Details

  • Registration shall be completed by submission of:
    • The prescribed Registration Form; and
    • The applicable Registration Fee.
  • The Registration Fee shall be:
    • 5000/- with accommodation; or
    • 3500/- without accommodation.
  • The Registration Fee shall be non-refundable.
  • Upon confirmation of registration, a Team Code shall be allotted, which shall be used for all official purposes including memorial submission.
  • Teams can register through the form given and form format in the brochure given below this post.

  • Moot Court Competition
    • Winners: ₹20,000/- with Trophy
    • Runners-Up: ₹10,000/- with Trophy
    • Best Memorial: ₹5,000/- with Trophy
    • Best Gentlemen Advocate: ₹3,000/- with Trophy
    • Best Lady Advocate: ₹3,000/- with Trophy
  • Judgment Writing Competition
    • Winner: ₹2,500/- with Trophy
    • Runner-Up: ₹1,500/- with Trophy
  • Quiz Competition
    • Winner: ₹2,500/- with Trophy
    • Runner-Up: ₹1,500/- with Trophy

  • Last Date for Submission of Soft Copy of Memorials & Travel Plan: 5th April, 2026
