How did you apply?
After learning about the existence of their internship opportunity, I submitted an application through a Google form on the LinkedIn platform.
The application procedure was efficient and organized, which made it easier to share my CV and statement of interest. I was soon informed of my selection.
First-day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression
As this was a virtual internship, the opening day was an orientation programme where we were informed of the objectives, schedules, and expectations. The coordinators told us how to communicate, how to organize the work, how to handle assigned research and writing tasks, and so on.
The organization appeared to be professional, and the first impression I got was that the program valued good discipline and quality research.
Main Tasks
The primary tasks that I completed during my internship were the research of law and writing academic papers.
A research article I wrote on the matters of the legal framework on mergers and acquisitions in India, called Issues and Challenges of Legal Framework on Mergers and Acquisitions in India, allowed me to explore the theory and practice of corporate law.
I also prepared a detailed case summary of Salomon v. A. Salomon & Co. Ltd, which helped me gain more knowledge about corporate personality and its significance in company law.
The legal research interactive and insightful sessions during the internship taught me practical tips on how to structure an argument, improve my legal writing style, and give proper citations to sources.
My experience of publishing my research article in the Record of Law was the best experience because it exposed me to first-hand experience in making a contribution to academia in the legal profession. My commentary on the case was also published. Overall, the tasks enhanced my analysis, research, and writing skills.
Work Environment
Record of Law had a structured work environment that was encouraging. Although it was virtual, communication with the coordinators was easy and prompt, and feedback was never negative. The internship team presented a cooperative and educational environment in which interns were advised to pose questions and seek perfection in their work.
The legal research and legal writing classes provided an interactive and classroom-like experience that made the internship professional. I especially liked the lack of dependence in studying research and the support provided at workshops.
The supportive environment not only allowed me to complete my article and case summary with confidence but also provided me with a sense of discipline in timekeeping and high-quality writing.
Good Things about the Internship
The opportunity to publish my research article on the law and case summary was one of the best parts of this internship, as this contributed the highest value to my profile and provided me with a sense of achievement.
The research and writing workshops were very useful because they offered practical information about academic legal work that is uncommon in classes.
The assignments, both the article and the case summary, were well-crafted and designed to enhance our capabilities while also exposing us to significant legal principles. Another positive aspect was that I received very good feedback that was timely and helped me improve my work.
It was a professional, enriching experience, which gave me the confidence that I can also undertake research-related work in the future.
Bad Things about the Internship
Since the internship was online, I did not have the opportunity to meet peers and mentors in person. Consequently, I was deprived of casual chats and connections that are found in on-site internships.
In addition, without court or fieldwork, the internship remained strictly academic, which might not be appealing to individuals seeking genuine litigation experience.
In some cases, it was difficult to manage independent research without the assistance of a person, and the feedback sessions helped to bridge this gap. Nevertheless, the experience was worthwhile and fruitful.

Everything was done on the internet, and submissions and communications were done online. This saved time and resources, allowing me to focus on research and writing.
Though I did not have direct physical contact with other interns and mentors, the online format was convenient and easy to work with at home.
Anything else you want to share?
The internship was also an important part of my education. It allowed me to publish a research paper and an overview of a case, as well as gave me experience in writing and researching more effectively. To unwind during the internship, I had brief breaks, which allowed me to resume work with renewed focus.
The most important lesson I gained was how crucial it is to be concise and clear in writing law, because this skill is essential both in school and in the professional field.
