The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (‘NLIU’), established in 1997, is the second oldest National Law University in India and carries a distinguished legacy of nearly three decades in imparting quality legal education.

About the Competition

The NLIU takes immense pleasure in announcing the 11 th NLIU – Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot, 2026 (‘Moot’) which is going to be held physically on campus of NLIU, Bhopal from 27th – 29th March, 2026.

The NLIU-Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot is the flagship moot of National Law Institute University, Bhopal, organised annually in association with the Office of Mr Vivek Tankha (Senior Advocate & Member of Rajya Sabha).

General Details

The competition will commence with a Memorial Qualification Round, following which the top 40 teams, based on their memorial scores, will qualify for the Oral Rounds to be conducted in person at the NLIU campus.

The Oral Rounds will comprise two Preliminary Rounds, followed by the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and the Final Round. Please note that participation is limited to a maximum of three teams per institution, and no open or cross institutional teams shall be permitted.

Registration Details

  • The NLIU is pleased to invite all law schools to participate in the Moot and looks forward to receiving maximum registrations.
  • Please note that provisional registration is mandatory for all institutions. The details for final registration for the Memorial Qualification Rounds will be shared upon confirmation of the provisional registration.
  • Accordingly, we request you to kindly complete the provisional registration by filling out the Google Form given below this post.
  • The teams shall be informed of the registration fees, if any, for the Memorial Qualification Rounds along with the email containing confirmation of the provisional registration.
  • Further, the teams that qualify for the Oral Rounds shall be required to complete a separate registration by paying an additional fee of INR 3,000 per team member, in accordance with the Rulebook of the Moot.
  • The registration fees may vary for the foreign teams and those completing provisional registration shall be informed accordingly.

Awards

  • We are pleased to share that, in addition to trophies and merit certificates, award recipients shall also be conferred with attractive cash prizes.
  • The Winners shall receive a cash prize of ₹1,15,000/-, while the Runners-Up shall be awarded ₹50,000/-.
  • The Best Memorial awards shall carry a cash prize of ₹15,000/- each, to be awarded separately for each side (Claimant and Respondent respectively).
  • The Best Speaker (Preliminary Rounds) shall be awarded a cash prize of ₹15,000/-.
  • Further, the Best Speaker (Final Rounds) shall be awarded an internship opportunity with Reynolds Porter Chamberlain LLP.
  • We may also be announcing internship opportunities at leading Indian law firms for other award recipients, stay tuned for further updates!

Important Dates

  • Last Date for Provisional Registration: 20th February, 2026
  • Last Date for Final Registration: 25th February, 2026
  • Submission of Memorials (Soft-Copy): 7th March, 2026
  • Release of List of Teams Qualifying for Oral Rounds: 11th March, 2026
  • Oral Rounds: 27th March – 29th March, 2026
