Bengaluru: Burglars made away with booty worth around Rs 23 lakh from the house of a cement trader when he and his family members had gone to attend a Karunada Sambhrama event at Kempegowda playground in Donkala near Shankarnagar Circle.
The incident came to light when the family returned home on Dec 14 at 11.40pm.
According to a complaint filed by Krishan HC, 42, a resident of the ground floor of a three-storey residential building at Manjunathanagar in Ittamadu of Banashankari, he and his family members locked the house at 5pm and went to the event. After the programme, Krishan’s wife and children returned home only to find the front door ajar and broken.
The burglars had entered a room, broke open an almirah and stole gold ornaments weighing 301 grams, including earrings, bracelets, a necklace, gold chains, 750 grams of silver articles, and Rs 1.7 lakh.
Alerted by Krishan, police rushed to the spot along with the scene of crime officers (SOCO) team, fingerprint experts, and collected evidence. An officer said the building doesn’t have a CCTV camera. However, a camera in the surrounding area captured one suspect loitering on the road.
A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 305 (theft in a dwelling house, or means of transportation or place of worship, etc), 331 (punishment for house-trespass or house breaking), and 333 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint).
