Ahmedabad: The city woke up to one of the coldest mornings of the season on Tuesday as the minimum temperature dipped to 11.8 degrees celsius, 1.8 degrees lower than normal. Gandhinagar felt the full force of the icy winds at just 9 degrees celsius, while the rest of the state reeled under similar wintry conditions.
At 29.2 degrees celsius, the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad was at par.
Meteorologists attribute the dip to a shift in wind patterns towards northerly and north-easterly directions. The India meteorological department (IMD) predicts that Ahmedabad’s minimum temperature on Wednesday will hover around 13 degrees celsius, with no major fluctuations expected in the coming five days.
Meanwhile, cold wave conditions gripped Kutch on Tuesday and are likely to persist. Naliya, often the coldest in the state, recorded 6.5 degrees celsius, followed by Gandhinagar then Rajkot at 10.8 degrees celsius. With temperatures taking a plunge, winter’s icy grip has tightened across Gujarat.
