Ahmedabad: Parents of students from a private school in Gota accused the school administration of forcing their wards to wear a particular-colour sweaters. Sources said that the parents accused Prem Gujarati Medium School in Gota of forcing the students to wear green sweaters for class attendance, which is against the state education department’s directive to let students wear any type of winter wear during winter. The school administration, however, denied implementing any such compulsory measures.
Despite govt guidelines prohibiting schools from mandating specific sweater requirements, certain institutions continue to enforce such rules, sources said. Sources said that parents whose children attend Prem Gujarati Medium School complained about the mandatory sweater policy. According to the parents, some students were allegedly asked to remove sweaters of other colours before entering the premises.
However, the school authorities said that wearing the green sweater is optional. The education department recently distributed a circular to all schools, directing them not to enforce specific sweater requirements. However, several schools continue implementing such rules, sources said.
