Surat: A man was caught on CCTV molesting three minor girls in Udhna on Sunday evening at Aman Society in the Bhathena area. Surat police formed six teams including one from crime branch to apprehend the man.
According to a complaint filed with Udhna police, at around 8.15pm on Sunday, a man of about 25 years, entered the society and molested a girl who was sitting on a moped near her home. He then advanced towards two other girls who were approaching him.
The accused went to the two minors and molested one of them. After the girl escaped, he caught hold of another girl and groped her. Both girls fled the scene in fear. The girls reported the incident to their parents. Society members then checked CCTV footage.
As fear spread in the society and its surroundings, society members approached Udhna police on Tuesday and submitted the CCTV footage.
Bhagirath Gadhvi, deputy commissioner of police (Zone 2), told TOI: “We have formed five teams from Udhna and other police stations and launched a hunt for the accused. One team from the crime branch has also been deployed to investigate the case. We are showing pictures of the accused to various societies. The CCTV trail suggests the accused is from the Udhna area. We hope to nab him soon.”
