Ahmedabad: In Sep, the Ahmedabad City district education officer sought applications from schools failing to maintain the minimum required student numbers for section reduction. However, schools that have not submitted proposals despite insufficient student numbers will face consequences, with accountability resting on both the school principal and the office’s beat inspector. These educational institutions are scheduled for upcoming inspections.
Sources said that the DEO’s office instructed grant-in-aid secondary and higher secondary schools in September to submit class reduction proposals where student numbers in Classes 9 to 12 fell below prescribed norms. Subsequently, hearings were conducted for all institutions that submitted their proposals.
Class reductions were executed in all schools that presented proposals, with official approval documents dispatched to the respective institutions. For state-aided secondary and higher secondary schools with insufficient student numbers that have not submitted reduction proposals, any financial complications will be the sole responsibility of the school board and principal.
The DEO has notified beat education inspectors about completed class reduction actions for compliant schools in their areas. For schools with inadequate student numbers that have not submitted reduction proposals, both the beat inspector and school principal will be held accountable for any resulting issues.
