Ahmedabad: The CID crime team, who got the remand of Dr Sanjay Patolia in connection with two angioplasty deaths at the hospital on Nov 11, seized the data from the server of Khyati Hospital on Saturday.
The CID crime had presented nine different points for Patolia’s remand, one of the main grounds being to seize the documents used to show a loss of Rs 1.5 crore.
Patolia was remanded in the custody of the CID crime till Thursday. On Saturday, CID crime officials took Patolia to Khyati Hospital, where a search was conducted in his office, and relevant documents were seized. A search was also conducted in the operation theatre. A search was carried out in the offices of the directors and the CEO. The cops said that an investigation was also carried out in the server room regarding data related to hospital administration, patients and accounting data. Server access was obtained, and the data was taken by the CID crime officials.
Additionally, the data of 141 patients who received treatment under MOUs with corporate companies like ONGC, Western Railway, SAIL, ECHC, and PRL was also taken into custody.
The remand application that was moved was on the ground that Patolia was one of the directors of Khyati Multi-Specialty Hospital since 2021, with a 39% stake. The main objective of the crime was to gain financial benefits from govt medical schemes. Due to Patolia and the other accused’s intent to gain financially, two patients died during treatment on Nov 11, and Patolia was aware of the hospital’s activities and financial misconduct, the application stated.
They also sought his custody, stating that he could provide details about financial irregularities and benefits since he had a 39% share in the hospital. The cops stated in the application that an audit report showed a loss of Rs 1.5 crore for the hospital. This was prepared as part of a criminal conspiracy, and hence they wanted to seize the documents.
The application stated that Patolia, being the only medically knowledgeable director, was aware of the hospital’s activities and was involved in exploiting govt schemes. Hence, being the director, he was aware of all financial transactions and could help the cops understand how the hospital exploited govt schemes.
The cops also sought remand on the ground that after committing the crime, the accused avoided arrest by staying at different locations and using various vehicles. Hence, they wanted all the details of his stay and vehicles used.
The cops stated that Patolia was in contact with other directors, and hence his custody was needed to locate other directors. The cops had sought a 10-day remand for Patolia.
