Gujarat Board Extends Class 12 Exam Schedule Due to Holi Festival | Ahmedabad News – Times of India

‘Best of two’ benefits for repeat students too

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has extended the “best of two” method for improving results to students in the Class 10 and 12 general stream repeat students. After introducing the best of two results method last year for Class 12 science stream students, the board allowed Class 10 and Class 12 general stream students to take the entire exam again during supplementary exams, regardless of whether they succeeded in the main exam or failed. However, the repeat students were not allowed this option.
This method allows students to take supplementary exams for all subjects after the main exam, with the higher score from the two being considered as the final result. The decision will come into effect from the current academic year and benefit the students who take Feb 2025 exams.
In the past, supplementary exams were limited to students failing a certain number of subjects in each class. However, changes were introduced in the March 2024 exams for Class 12 science stream, allowing students to improve their results using the “best of two” method. All subjects were tested in both the main and supplementary exams, with the higher score being considered as the final result.
The board proposed extending this opportunity to Class 10 and 12 general stream students, including the repeat students, and the state education department approved the necessary amendments to the examination provisions.
Starting from Feb 2025 final exams, all students, including the repeat students, who take the main exams will have an option to take the supplementary exams of all subjects to improve their results.
