About the Organiser
Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), Kanpur, established in 1966, is a premier State University in North India accredited with an A++ Grade by NAAC and recognized as a Category-I University. The Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Legal Studies (ABVSLS), functioning under CSJMU, offers comprehensive legal education including B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), BBA LL.B. (Hons.), LL.B., and LL.M. programmes, prioritizing research, advocacy, and experiential learning.
About the Competition
The Literary Committee of ABVSLS presents “SAMVAD: 1st Atal Bihari Vajpayee State Debate Competition, 2026,” a platform for critical inquiry and intellectual exchange to encourage informed debate on legal, constitutional, public policy, and socio-political issues while promoting democratic values.
Competition Structure

Preliminary and semi-final rounds conducted online.

Final round held offline at the Senanayak Tatyatope Senate Hall, CSJMU campus.

Eligibility

Open to students enrolled in any recognised Undergraduate or Postgraduate programme in Uttar Pradesh.

Participation is individual.

Participants must have a valid student identity card.
Debate Format

Conventional Debate Format with participants debating both For and Against the motion as assigned by random draw.

Languages allowed: English, Hindi, or Bilingual (English and Hindi).
