Joe Root will continue to lead the side, while Jordan Cox has been handed the No. 3 role after Jacob Bethell was ruled out of the series through injury.
Lawrence returns to England’s Test squad for the first time in two years after an impressive County Championship campaign, where he is the second-highest run-scorer in Division One this season. The right-hander is set to bat at No. 6, having last featured in a Test against Sri Lanka.
Cox, who made his Test debut against New Zealand at The Oval earlier this summer, will replace the injured Bethell at first drop.
Bethell sustained a right knee injury during England’s ODI series against India last month and has been ruled out of the entire Pakistan Test series.
Fast bowlers Brydon Carse and Sam Cook also return to the squad. Cook, who made his lone Test appearance against Zimbabwe last summer, earns another opportunity, while Carse is back in the red-ball setup for the first time since England’s Ashes defeat in Australia last winter.
