PhonePe has launched PulsePro, a business intelligence platform that uses aggregated and anonymised transaction data to provide insights into consumer spending patterns, market trends and business activity.

The platform will allow organisations to analyse trends across categories, locations and markets to support decisions related to expansion, distribution and retail planning.

PhonePe said the platform is built on transaction trends from its digital payments ecosystem and will provide insights at district and postal code levels. It will offer data on category growth, consumer behaviour patterns and indicators such as digital ecosystem adoption.

The launch comes as digital payment platforms look beyond transaction processing and explore ways to use payments data for analytics and business services.

PhonePe had introduced PhonePe Pulse in 2021 as an open data platform providing insights on digital payment trends. The company said PulsePro will offer additional enterprise-level analytics, while the existing Pulse platform will continue as a free resource.

However, the use of payment data for commercial intelligence also brings questions around data privacy and responsible use. Experts have highlighted that while aggregated and anonymised datasets can help businesses understand market behaviour, platforms need to ensure strong safeguards to prevent misuse of consumer information.

PhonePe said the new platform will use aggregated data and will not provide access to individual customer transaction details.ALSO READ | Paytm adds split bills feature: How users can divide and settle group expenses
