About the Organisation

The Centre for Legal Research and Studies (CLRS) is the academic arm of VidhiAagaz, founded in 2017 and registered under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.

VidhiAagaz publishes the multiple journals and books. Its work is indexed in HeinOnline, Manupatra and Google Scholar, and includes research contributions from authors in 56 countries, over 400 universities, 20 High Courts, and the Supreme Courts of India and Rwanda. Some of is publications are held by 1000+ libraries worldwide, including Harvard, Stanford and Oxford. It is a Crossref member.

About the Conference

The decade we are in has rewritten the questions law has to answer. Artificial intelligence now decides who is offered a loan and who is recommended for bail. Personal data is both the currency of the economy and the subject of a new statute. Three new criminal codes have replaced the ones the country ran on for more than a century. Speech, money, work and harm have moved substantially online, and doctrines built for an earlier world are being stretched to cover them.

This conference asks how law is holding up, and where it is not. It invites work that engages a live problem in any field, from constitutional and criminal law to corporate, technology, environmental and international law, and that says something useful about how rights, regulation and justice should function in a world changing faster than the statute book. Critical work is as welcome as doctrinal work. What we are looking for is an argument, grounded in the law and the facts, that a reader will be glad to have read.

Law in the Digital Decade: Rights, Regulation and Justice in a Rapidly Changing World.

The conference examines how legal doctrine, regulation and the delivery of justice are adapting as technology reshapes the questions the law must answer, and where they are falling short.

Papers are invited on the sub-themes below. They are a guide to the questions the conference hopes to gather, not fixed sessions: the tracks for the day will be formed after submissions close, around the topics on which papers are actually received.

Who Can Participate

• Academicians, research scholars, postgraduate and undergraduate students, legal practitioners, judicial officers, and independent researchers from India and abroad

• Up to two authors per paper; one registration and publication charge covers both

Submission Procedure

• Submit an abstract (250-300 words) at the link given at the end of the post

• Abstracts undergo editorial review; only approved abstracts proceed to full paper submission

• Register only after abstract acceptance

Submission Guidelines

• Abstract: 250-300 words with up to five keywords; editorial review within 2-3 days

• Full paper: 3,000 to 4,500 words including footnotes; submitted after abstract acceptance

• Formatting: Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 line spacing; footnotes size 10; Bluebook (20th edition)

• File type: Word document (.doc or .docx); PDFs not accepted

• Originality: unpublished work with similarity below 10%; no AI-generated text; non-defamatory

• Anonymity: submissions must be blind (no author name or affiliation)

Review Process

Double-blind review for full papers by subject experts; acceptance based on reviewers’ recommendations. Payment of registration/publication fee does not guarantee acceptance.

• Attendee (not presenting): ₹400

• Students and Research Scholars: ₹700

• Academicians, Professionals and Practitioners: ₹1,000

• Foreign Delegates: ₹2,550 (approx. ₹ based on $30 USD)

• Registration includes participation and e-certificate

Publication Opportunity

• Accepted papers published in an edited book with ISBN and Crossref DOI assigned

• Publication is optional for accepted papers on a flat fee of ₹1,500 covering copyright and printed book delivery

Certificates

• Presenting authors receive e-certificate of presentation

• Published authors receive a printed certificate with their book copy

• Attendees receive e-certificate of participation
